This week at Vol State: Diversity and a Hispanic Fiesta

We have another action packed week here for student activities at Vol State. It's Cultural Diversity Week and we have a number of speakers on campus. All of the speakers will be at 12:15pm each day in the Rochelle Center of the Library.

Asian Culture
Monday – Dr. Ann Sloan, Special Assistant to the
Provost for International Education, MTSU

Hispanic Culture
Wednesday – Dr. Theron Corse, Professor of History
(Latin American Studies), TSU
Dr. Ana Rueda-Garcia, Associate
Professor Department of Languages, TSU

Thursday - Dr. Theron Corse, TSU

Dr. Marshall Eakin, Professor of History,
Brazilian Studies, Vanderbilt University

These events are sponsored by Campus and Cultural Activities Committee & the Office of Student Life & Diversity Initiatives.

On Saturday, September 29 everyone is invited to the “Fiesta de OtoƱo en Vol State”
A Fall Festival Celebrating Latino Culture. It runs from 11am-3pm on the Vol State campus on the Library Lawn, in the Plaza and in the gym.

Everyone in the community is invited for:
-Fajitas, chips, rice and beans
-Tango and Bossa Nova from the critically acclaimed Nashville Latin band Serenatta Romantic Latin Ensemble
-Soccer Contest: Teams of five participate in mini-games. Anyone can enter. Prizes for the winners.
-Dance from the Hispano America Dance Troupe
-Community booths and info tables
-Fun games and rides for kids
