Garden work day Saturday

Greetings gardeners:

I would like to announce that there will be a Community Garden workday next Saturday, March 1, from 9:30AM to 12:00 PM. The major project for this workday will be the removal and general clearing of invasive plant and shrub species in the area along the creek-bed and extending down past the tennis courts. We anticipate a couple of youth groups volunteering from Long Hollow Baptist Church as part of a community service activity but we would welcome any interested Students, Faculty and Staff from VSCC.

Everyone is welcome! We will need people to drag brush as it is being cut to an area where Gallatin public works can pick it up. There should also be a number of other activities to keep everyone busy. So, if you are suffering from cabin fever, we will ensure you get a good dose of fresh air and hard work to lift your spirits. Make sure you come prepared with work clothes and gloves for handling brush. I should also announce that we will have another workday scheduled for later in the spring on Saturday, April 19. So, please pencil that date into your calendar.
