Vol State Student Wins ATHENA Scholarship

Tasie Guenthner of Nashville has been awarded a 2011 ATHENA scholarship. The international group works to develop and support the leadership of women. The Volunteer State Community College student placed second in the nontraditional category of the local competition. Guenthner is a Vol State President’s Ambassador at the college, a competitive program that includes public speaking and representing the college at public events. After graduation, she will be attending Middle Tennessee State University to pursue a degree in nutritional science. Guenthner is an adult student who transitioned from full-time employment to college student. Her long-term goal is to become a dietician and then pursue a degree in chiropractic medicine.
