Logistics Students Work at Second Harvest
On Saturday, December 10, ISM Nashville Inc. the local affiliate of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) held its annual community service at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville. An opportunity arose to ask for volunteers from the Vol State Logistics LGM 130 class to attend this event. Students Amy Radmonovich, Jeff Hartman, and Roman Williamson participated. Roman worked at Second Harvest after already working a shift at FedEx. The students learned the logistics involved in running a busy food bank operation, at an especially busy time of the year.
ISM-Nashville has been involved in many Vol State projects and also recently made a $500 donation to the Vol State TnCIS China 2012 Travel-Study program.

Santa Claus Comes to Vol State
Maggie Lewis with the Association of Campus Events (ACE) helped with the registration of 140 children. “I worked with Christmas for the Kids last year also,” said Lewis. “They get so excited. It was well worth the work I put into it. Just to make one child happy would have been worth it.”
“Jazmin Mercer was the chairperson for this event and dressed up as an elf,” said Miller. “She did such a great job it literally brought tears to people’s eyes when she worked with the kids”Activities for the children included pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The kids did arts and crafts, played board games and took part in face painting. The party lasted about three hours and both the parents and the children left with the Christmas spirit.
