Due to cold weather the Fall Fiesta at Vol State on Saturday, October 17 will be held inside the Pickel Field House on campus. We will have all of the food, music and fun, just warmer. The soccer contest will still be held outside.
Everyone is invited to celebrate Hispanic culture on Saturday, October 17 as Volunteer State Community College holds the ninth annual Fall Fiesta at Vol State. The free event features food, music and fun. New this year is a Latin dance exhibition and contest conducted by dance instructors from Nashville. Food is always a big part of the Fiesta. The food contest provides a venue for people to showcase their favorite dishes..
“There are so many different countries that make up what we call Hispanic,” said Eric Melcher, Vol State coordinator of communications. “Food is a great way to show-off countries and their cultural heritage. The food contest is open to everyone and we have prizes for the winners. After judging, the food samples are given away to the public.”
In addition to the food cook-off contest at 11 a.m., there will be a free Mexican lunch and drinks starting at noon. The family event includes a soccer tournament, live music, a dance group, art activities, and plenty of fun games for kids.
The Fall Fiesta at Vol State will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Volunteer State Community College campus at 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin in the Pickel Field House. The Fall Fiesta is free and open to everyone.
