Three Tips for New Students

  • If you haven’t settled on a firm major or program now is a good opportunity to explore what we offer. You can find the list of programs and degrees we offer here.
  • Consider your future plans now. If you want to go to a four-year school after you graduate from Vol State visit the list of Tennessee Transfer Pathway programs. They’re listed by major and can tell you exactly what classes you need to take at Vol State to have all your credit transfer to the university program of your choice. Vol State classes transfer just about anywhere, but particular university programs can be picky about what they will accept towards a degree.
  • Stay focused. Figure out a Vol State path and stay on that path. If you switch majors you may end up taking classes you don’t need for your degree. That costs you time and money.
  • We’re here to help you every step of the way. If you have questions come by our campuses for individual help. You can also call the Advising Center at 615-230-3702.
